Description

We reckon Sorrel microgreens are one of the most unique and surprising microgreen varieties — as they pack a bright, lemony tang that instantly lifts a dish.

They’re amazing when you want flavour impact without adding dressings or extra ingredients.

A little more patient than the rest — Sorrel takes around 5-7 days to germinate and 16-21+ days to grow, but it’s worth every day for its unique tart, refreshing taste!

FLAVOUR:

Sorrel microgreens have a bright, lemony, slightly tangy flavour that really surprises people the first time they try them.

The easiest way to describe it: a combination of lemon juice + spinach + green apple

They’re fresh, crisp and juicy with a gentle citrus bite — but much milder and more pleasant than mature sorrel leaves.

USE ME IN:

Because of that natural tang, they act like a squeeze of lemon. They cut through rich or creamy foods, balance salty flavours, add freshness, add flavour without dressing or sauce.

Sorrel microgreens are especially good with avocado toast, chicken, fish or pork, cream cheese or goat cheese, grain bowls, and any salad that would normally need lemon vinaigrette.  They’re more of a flavour accent than a bulk green.

They're even great on desserts as they have no bitterness - and they pair particularly well with strawberry, blueberry and tarts!

NUTRITION:

Sorrel microgreens are loaded with vitamins A, C & K, iron, antioxidants & polyphenols and chlorophyll.

Sorrel also contains oxalic acid, which gives that citrus flavour. In small culinary amounts this:

  • enhances mineral absorption (like iron)

  • lets you use less salt or dressing

  • brightens flavour naturally

(If someone is prone to kidney stones, they may want to avoid very large amounts — but normal food use is completely fine.)

    FAQs

What is the optimum growing temperature?

Microgreens can be grown indoors all year round and temperature plays a major role in how quickly microgreens grow.

Generally, between 18–24 degrees celcius is optimal.

Below 12 degrees and the microgreens will struggle to germinate and above 25 degrees they're may get too hot and start "cooking" the seeds.

Do the microgreens re-grow once harvested?

Each seedmat is single-use and will not re-grow once harvested. When you have finished a mat, you'll need to start a new seedmat.

Pod tip: you can throw the used mat into your garden and you'll soon find vegetables will start popping up from the slower growing seeds!

Can I use my own seeds?

You can use your own seeds on our growmats, but not the seedmats.

Our SEEDMATS come pre-loaded with over 440 microgreen seeds per mat as well as a touch of plant nutrients to help them grow lush and tasty. Because they are already seeded, you can't use your own seeds.

Our latest GROWMATS however, do allow you to use your own seeds. They are jute fiber and nutrient-infused for optimum microgreen growth. Use with our range of seeds, or sprinkle your own favourites!
